Fire cabinets for OU 10. Purpose and use of carbon dioxide fire extinguishers

A fire extinguisher is a device for extinguishing fires with a special substance. It is one of the best first aids for extinguishing a fire almost anywhere: in a car, in a warehouse, in a house, etc.

According to safety precautions, mandatory in public and private institutions.

At power stations where the voltage is not higher than 10 kV or at electrified railway transport, carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are usually installed - abbreviated as OU.

At all, according to the principle of impact on the focus various extinguishing agents, fire extinguishers are distinguished:

  • powder;
  • foam (chemical, air-foam, air-emulsion);
  • water;
  • gas (carbon dioxide).

Purpose of OS

Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are used for t suppression of burning substances that cannot burn in the absence of oxygen. Such means of extinguishing fires are ideally used in places where it is necessary to save materially valuable equipment:

  • at cultural sites (in galleries, archives, museums);
  • in urban, sea and rail transport;
  • in industrial plants;
  • in private houses;
  • in dachas;
  • in apartments and offices.

Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are also used in warehouses, gas stations, paint shops. This is due to the fact that gas does not harm expensive property, despite the fact that it copes with the elimination of the ignition of gaseous or liquid substances better.

Operating principle

Liquefied carbon dioxide, which is in a cylinder under pressure, when displaced, passes into a solid state (snow-like), cools the burning substance. Increased in volume up to 500 times, carbon dioxide has a temperature of -72 ° C, displaces oxygen from the ignition zone thus stopping the combustion reaction.

When using carbon dioxide fire extinguishers extinguishing agent evaporates without a trace, does not leave pollution, does not cause damage in the form of damage to the equipment in the room.

Types of carbon dioxide fire extinguishers

Fire extinguishers are classified by body volume on the:

  • portable from 5 kg. up to 20 kg. (small-capacity - up to 10 liters of CO2 in a cylinder) - have a minimum of operational features, can be used by one person;
  • mobile and stationary from 35 kg. (from 10 liters of CO2 charge) - heavy, with a special mobile device. They can be used by two people, only by joint efforts, who have undergone special training.

Portable carbon dioxide fire extinguishers are used to extinguish fires in places with the presence of office equipment, electrical appliances.

Mobile carbon dioxide cylinders consist of twin fire extinguishers, have tubes and a socket.

Maintenance

Fire extinguishers needed recharge at least once every five years at special charging stations, in specialized organizations. A used fire extinguisher can be refilled, however, the suitability for use of such an agent is reduced to three years. Special care should be taken when recharging gas fire extinguishers, it is safer to purchase a new bottle of fire extinguishing agent.

Warranty period for CO2 fire extinguishers is 2 years from the date of manufacture. At least once every 2 years, the mass of the extinguishing agent should be checked. The OS passport or its label contains an indication of the mass of carbon dioxide. When it is added to the mass of the cylinder, the total mass of the OS is calculated.

Mobile carbon dioxide fire extinguisher OU-10 is designed to extinguish various substances, the combustion of which cannot occur without air access; can be used to extinguish electrical installations with a voltage of not more than 1000 V. The design of the fire extinguisher allows it to be transported to the place of fire and repeatedly resume the supply of the fire extinguishing agent charge to the combustion source using a shut-off and trigger device on the hose.

Declaration and Certificate of Conformity Customs Union Certificate of Conformity GOST

Each carbon dioxide fire extinguisher is supplied with a numbered passport.

The weight of a cylinder with a locking device without an extinguishing agent is applied to the locking device of a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher. The locking device is sealed with a seal. The seal has an individual seal number, a date in the month-year format (PPR, p. 477 with Amendments of 17.02.2014).
On the label of the DU of the fire extinguisher, in addition to the data listed in GOST, the number of the fire extinguisher is applied. The date of issue is marked at the bottom of the label (manual marking is allowed).

Extinguishing is carried out in the vertical position of the fire extinguisher. After the lever of the head of the locking and starting device is released from the seal (checks), the socket is directed to the fire and the start lever on the cylinder head is pressed.

Use of a mobile carbon dioxide fire extinguisher OU-10:

Bring a mobile carbon dioxide fire extinguisher OU-10 to the fire, taking into account the distance that is safe from thermal effects. Pull out the pin, point the socket at the source of fire and press the handle of the locking device valve. In cases of fire in the open air, extinguish only from the windward side. Be careful when releasing the charge from the bell, because its surface temperature drops to minus 60-70 0 C. In addition, electrostatic voltage can be concentrated on the bell surface, which can break through the dielectric glove. When extinguishing electrical installations under voltage, it is not allowed to bring the socket closer than 1 meter to the electrical installation and the flame.

Rules for the operation of a mobile carbon dioxide fire extinguisher OU-10:

The warranty period of operation of the OU-10 mobile carbon dioxide fire extinguisher is 24 months from the date of acceptance by the Quality Control Department, which includes the shelf life. Mobile carbon dioxide fire extinguisher OU-10 must not be installed near heating devices, it must be protected from sunlight. The OU-10 mobile carbon dioxide fire extinguisher is subject to periodic checks once every six months for tightness and weight compliance with passport data.
